Happy April ~ Letter From The Editor

Sunday, April 2, 2017

I've been counting down to this month for a long time. April always seems to mark a turning point in the year. It's the beginning of a new quarter and a new season. Everything is on the cusp of blooming, and it always seems to be a magical time of the year as life begins again all around us.

I am looking forward to warmer weather, sunnier days, bluer skies, budding trees, and blooming flowers. As much as I try to remain happy during the cold, winter months, I am always more positive and motivated during the warmer months of the year. Bring on the longer, warmer days!

This month on the blog, we'll be focusing on spring, of course. I'll be traveling to Phoenix and Tucson with my family later in the month, so some of the content around that time will focus on family travel and my own personal travel favorites (think outfit, must-haves for my carry on, and what and how I pack).

When I return, I'll share my picks for what to do and see in the Phoenix and Tucson areas. One of my sisters lives in Phoenix, so I will definitely be enlisting her help in putting that list together. In the meantime, be sure to check out these favorite stories from March in the event that you missed them.

Also, be sure to check out my new weekly series Weekend Dispatch where I share some ideas for how to spend your weekend.

What's a hot color for spring? Yellow, of course.

Off-the-shoulder tops are trending for spring. This trend looks great on everyone, so don't miss out on your chance to wear it with one of these pretty tops.

The quintessential print for summer is definitely palm and banana leaf prints. Last month I shared a few of my favorite items in this trendy tropical print.

When you want to indulge without the guilt, turn to Kemps Yo² frozen yogurt. I used it to make a better-for-you banana split.

Splurge vs. save returned last month to a standing ovation when I showed you two fabulous options for scalloped tote bags.

APRIL MUST-HAVES
Mules are spring's "it" shoe. If you don't have a pair, it's time to get one. They look great with skirts, dresses, shorts, and jeans. So, you've got no excuse not to grab a pair. Since the shoe is rather trendy, go for one that's inexpensive like the pair shown from H&M.

I'm all about the spring fashion trends this month. We are seeing the legs of pants getting wider and shorter. If you don't want to spend the money on a new pair, you can always trim the hem off a pair of flared jeans that you already own, and voila! You're ready to wear the trend. If not, these jeans will do the trick.

We've had our fair share of rainy weather since spring officially started last month. And there's sure to be more on the way. A classic trench coat is a must and works for rainy days as well as chilly sunny ones as well. They never go out of style, so investing in a decent one is always a good choice.

I've been looking for a lightweight sweater for those days when it's mostly warm but there's still a slight chill in the air. This weekend while shopping at a local boutique I found this Vintage Havana contrast stitch sweater and fell in love immediately. It was exactly what I was looking for, and I love the navy and white combo. Grab this navy cami to wear underneath the sweater.

Make it a great April!
