Weekend Dispatch

Last weekend was spent mostly running errands and tying up loose ends. Emma passed her driving test last Thursday, so we have another driver in the house (which means I now have someone who can run some of my errands for me!). Just kidding...sort of. I am already seeing how much time I've gotten back now that I don't have to drive her everywhere. We are both enjoying our newfound freedom!

Here's what I'm up to this week and weekend and how I'm spending some of my new free time (😄):

If you are looking for a rom-com with some clever social commentary sprinkled in, Always Be My Maybe is your movie. This movie delivers in the witty and sad categories. After childhood sweethearts, Sasha and Marcus, have a falling out and don't speak for 15 years, they reconnect as adults when Sasha runs into Marcus in San Francisco. Although the old sparks are still there, the couple now live in different worlds that seem insurmountable to navigate. Bonus: there's a cameo appearance by Keanu Reeves (💗).

A few months ago I watched Leaving Neverland, the documentary that details that alleged sexual abuse that Michael Jackson inflicted on two boys when they were just 7 and 10. After having seen it, I could no longer listen to Jackson's music. Though I was never a hardcore MJ fan, I would listen to certain songs if they came on Sirius Radio. But no more. I was so disturbed and disgusted by his actions that every time I even remotely thought about his music, I was immediately turned off. When I came upon the Popcast podcast (from the New York Times), I was intrigued by an episode that addresses how fans process the allegations addressed in Leaving Neverland and whether the documentary is enough to derail Jackson's enormous musical legacy.

Saturday, June 8th is National Rosé Day. I'll drink to that! Whispering Angel is my favorite rosé wine. It's bit on the pricey side but worth it. Whispering Angel has done it again with The Palm, a rosé with a lower price point, a fruitier taste, and a pretty label (these things are important!) If you plan on toasting on National Rosé Day, grab a bottle of The Palm or any one of these rosé wines.

I found this story of a daughter's lifesaving gift to her mother so incredibly heartwarming, encouraging, and inspiring. Read it! It will restore your faith in medical miracles.

So, tell me. What do you have planned this weekend?
