Monday, January 29, 2018
Spring and summer shoes are so fun, and even more so after a long, harrowing winter of wearing nothing but boots, boots, boots, and more boots. This spring, we are seeing all sorts of fun and funky trends when it comes to shoes. I am especially loving all the statement flats. From mules to slingbacks to sneakers, I want them all!

Here are a few of my favorite finds, all under $40.

How To Organize Your Boots In The Winter

Tuesday, November 29, 2016

Every year when fall rolls around, one of the things I look forward to the most is swapping out my summer clothes and accessories for fall and winter ones. Cozy sweaters replace sleeveless tops. Jeans replace shorts and skirts. And boots replace sandals.

As excited as I am to haul out my fall and winter wardrobe and accessories, I always seem to struggle with boot storage. Do I keep them upright in my closet or let the shaft flap down? I don't want my boots to become damaged, scratched, or scuffed, but I don't have the creativity to devise a scheme for keeping them looking brand new.

Boots are notoriously awkward to organize and store. Due to their general size, they tend to take up a lot of closet space. I decided, in an effort to finally organize my growing collections of boots, to give the Boot Butler® a try.

The Boot Butler® is a hanging boot organizer that promises to organize your boots in less space and less time than whatever system your currently using (which, if you're anything like I am, was a pile of boots on the floor).

Get your boots off the floor, reclaim precious closet space, and get organized with Boot Butler®. Here's how it works. Boot Butler® hangs from any standard closet rod and is designed to hold all types of boots from over-the-knee to booties to heavy work boots.

Boot Butler® is designed to fit in the shaft of your boot to gently cradle them and prevent creases. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Boot Butler® was strong enough to hold my Hunter wellies, which are quite heavy.

I found the assembly to be quick and easy although when I pulled the pieces out of the box, I have to admit I was a bit overwhelmed. At first glance there are lots of components. Within minutes, every piece was assembled, and my Boot Butler® was hanging in my closet and holding five pairs of boots.

You can turn Boot Butler® around so that the boots either face in or out. Personally, I prefer them to face out, but it's totally up to you, and I think it's great to have options.

In the amount of space that a coat takes up, you can now store five pairs of boots using Boot Butler®. I love having easy access to my boots. I can see every pair directly in front of me. I'm not wasting time sifting through a pile on the floor of my closet.

My boots are an investment for me, and Boot Butler® is a way for me to protect my investment.

Need more proof that Boot Butler® is the ideal boot storage solution for you? Watch this quick video demonstration.

Boot Butler® retails for $69.99 and can be purchased at Amazon.com or directly from BootButler.com.

Disclosure: I received a Boot Butler® system to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.

Flip Flops ~ A Summer Staple

Friday, June 19, 2015
Flips flops are the summer shoe of choice here at the Jersey shore. When you live at the beach, it's hard to imagine wearing anything but flip flops all summer long. Easy on and easy off is a must for any avid beach goer, and flip flops fit the bill perfectly.

As comfortable as flip flops are, they aren't the most supportive footwear, however. I often end up with painful cramps at the end of the a long day of wearing flip flops. And those that do offer some support are often unattractive.

Friday, June 19th is National Flip Flop day, and I can't think of a better occasion to share a bit about a new pair of flip flops I recently received from Vionic.

I was eager to try a pair of Vionic flip flops after hearing about them from a personal trainer at my gym. She raved about them and suggested that I try them. She said they helped to alleviate and eliminate some of the back pain she was getting after a long day of wearing flip flops.

Vionic features Orthaheel Technology, a podiatrist-designed support built seamlessly into contemporary and modern classic design of the shoe. In other words, Vionic flip flops are stylish and offer the best support for your foot and your entire body. The innovative Orthaheel Technology helps reduce over-pronation, which can improve foot function and relieve common associated pains such as plantar fasciitis (heel pain), knee pain and back pain.

I worn mine to they gym yesterday for a yoga class. They are so comfortable, not like a squishy comfortable, but more like a solid, hugging feeling on your feet. My feet didn't slide around on the foundation as they often do on conventional flip flops.

We have several trips to amusement parks planned this summer, and I will definitely be wearing my Vionic flip flops. These are exactly the type of flip flops to take me through an entire day of extensive walking in style (a must!) and comfort.

For more information and to see available styles for both women and men, visit the Vionic website.

Disclosure: I received a complimentary pair of Vionic flip flops. All opinions are my own.

Going Gaga for Gingham

Thursday, April 2, 2015
I'm not one to fall head over heels for any specific trend during a particular season. I have a definite personal style. I know what I like and what looks good on me, and I generally don't stray far from it. But every once in awhile a trend comes along that takes me by storm. This spring that trend happens to be gingham. From bags to shoes to jewelry to clothes to home decor, I am throwing myself all over this trend.

Here are a few of my favorite items right now.

Isaac Mizrahi green gingham phone case ($15)

Simple Spring Outfit

Friday, March 20, 2015
Happy Spring! Although the weather is anything but spring-like here on the east coast, I'm in total spring mode. I am ready to shed the layers and chunky knits in favor of lightweight basics.

Today, I'm sharing one of my favorite outfits comprised of simple, spring basics from jeans to a white button-down to the classic trench.

The Trench Coat
The spring staple is available in a variety of colors, lengths, and fabrics. I have a weakness for trench coats and have quite a collection in a few different colors. But my all-time favorite is definitely a classic khaki.

Shop The Look:

Dark Skinny Jeans
They can dress up or down an outfit in a cinch. They are also perfect for tucking into rain boots on your commute. Once you get to the office, change into a pair of flats or heels.

Shop The Look:

The White Button Down
Nothing beats a crisp white button-down shirt. To add some flair, go for a statement necklace or a short scarf around the neck.

Shop The Look:

Sunnies
Grab your favorite pair of sunglasses for those bright sunny days.

Shop The Look:

The Bag
When wearing a trench coat, keep your bag structured. A satchel or a sleek tote are always nice matches for a trench.

Shop The Look:

Flats
Whether you go with a classic ballet flat or opt for something a little more dramatic such as these Valentino-inspired (but much less expensive) flats, your feet will thank you at the end of the day.

I've had a love for espadrilles ever since the late 80s when the European fashion invasion hit the US in a big way. This summer they are back and are showing up in all sorts of colors, textures, and fabrics.

My thoughts have turned to summer, and I can't wait to get my hands on a few pairs of these for easy, breezy strolls on the beach and boardwalk.

Friday's Fresh Picks: Spring Flats

Friday, March 6, 2015
We have been bombarded with snow storm after snow storm here on the east coast. It seems every other morning I am awoken by a phone call announcing either a delayed opening or a cancelled day of school.

I've had it with the weather, and I've had it with all the things the snow and cold weather bring, such as sweaters, boots, hats, gloves, and cabin fever.

I've got my eye on the prize: spring, and it starts with fun and cute flats for those days when the weather is more than ideal.

For this week's installment of Friday's Fresh Picks, I'm fast forwarding to spring and sharing my favorite picks for fun flats for spring days.

The ZAYNA Flat from Sole Society
This flat is the perfect transition flat to take you from winter to spring. The tweed is fitting for both seasons, and these flats would be appropriate paired with skinny black cords or a dress.

TOMS Chambray Ballet Flat
I love these flats! I'm a big fan of chambray, and when it's available in a shoe, I say go for it. These flats would look super cute with a pair of white skinny jeans and this sweater.

Tory Burch REVA Flat
I bought my first pair of Reva flats a few years ago, and they quickly became a favorite. I wore them practically everyday from March til June every year since. I can't wait to break them out this spring as well as add the above color to my shoe collection.

Solodus x Jason Pollan Ice Cream Espadrilles
Espadrilles are the perfect casual shoe. They are comfortable and cute, and they look great with a long skirt, a beach coverup, or a pair of linen pants.

Mossimo Supply Co. Ona Scrunch Ballet Flat
I own these, and I absolutely love them. I wear them with all my favorite skinny jeans from dark denim to light denim to colored denim to white jeans. They are so inexpensive that you'll want to buy more than one pair!

Merona Striped d'Orsay Flat
I fell in love with d'Orsay flats last spring. I love the pointed toe, and they look so classy. You can find them in a whole range of prices from those featured above for just $23 to a pair from Jenni Kayne for $600.

Halogen Pointy Toe Studded Leather T-Strap Flats
This Valentino knock off is just as glam but without the hefty price tag. These are available in a variety of colors, but I love the snakeskin.

Sperry Driving Loafer
Driving loafers are the epitome of style and comfort all in one shoe. Once you put these shoes on, you won't want to take them off.
Friday Fresh Picks are hand-picked favorite items, reviews and highlights from the amazing women you see above.

Fall Flats: How To Pair Them With Jeans

Friday, September 19, 2014
Flats are fall's must-have shoe. From ballet flats to d'Orsay flats to cap toe flats, you can't go wrong with a stylish (and may I add comfortable) pair of flats.

Here are a few of my favorite pairs and how to style them.

1. Ballerina inspired flats + Boyfriend jeans
The cuffed length of the boyfriend jeans makes them a perfect pairing for these ballerina-inspired, blush colored flats. Keep the hem high to be able to see the criss-cross, lattice details of the flats.

2. Cobalt blue flats + Grey denim
The vibrant shade of blue not only pops but it also adds a bit of drama to the neutral colored denim.

3. White Denim + Plaid d'Orsay flats
Forget that "no white after Labor Day" rule. It's archaic. White is perfectly acceptable year round. Pair your favorite white jeans or pants with a pair of plaid d'Orsay flats for a balanced look.

4. Black denim + Animal print cap toe flats
I love the combination of black and red together. This shoe takes it one step further with a splash of animal print, which ties that black denim and the shoes together beautifully.
