Weekend Dispatch

This is the first official weekend of summer, and the weather looks really promising! It's about time as it has hardly felt summer-like around here. I'm hoping to get outdoors as much as I can to soak up as much of summer and the daylight as I can.

Here's what else I'm up to this week and weekend:

This weekend marks the hotly anticipated return of Pixar's Toy Story series, with the final installment, Toy Story 4, hitting theaters on June 21st. These are some of the most heartwarming and entertaining movies I've ever seen, and I'm so excited for this one. Some of the influencers I follow attended the LA premier last week and absolutely raved about the movie. We meet Forky, Bonnie's new toy who isn't so fond of being a toy. Adventures ensue and Buzz and Woody are likely to come to the rescue while encountering mishaps along the way.

When I started practicing intermittent fasting, I stopped eating breakfast. I didn't miss it. I don't particularly like breakfast foods (I don't eat eggs. I despise maple syrup, and most breakfast foods are so carb heavy that they leave you feeling weighted down for most of the day). When I did eat breakfast, I usually ate fruit and yogurt. Now, when I do eat my first meal of the day, which is generally around 1 pm on an intermittent fasting diet, I opt for a bowl of fruit. But your basic fruit cup can become really boring really fast. I found this recipe for quinoa fruit salad, and it's become my go-to meal and snack most days. You can add a little yogurt to it or a few cubes of pound cake if you want a meal that's a little more substantial.

This week I started listening to Man In The Window, a podcast which uncovers details about the Golden State killer. This podcast is told from the perspective of the killer's victims and their terrifying ordeals. I've been into crime podcasts lately, and this one is intriguing.

If you are local to the Jersey shore or within a reasonable drive, Monmouth Park is hosting a Wine & Chocolate Festival on Saturday, June 22nd. New Jersey wineries will be offering samples of their tasty concoctions as well as the area's best chocolatiers will be serving up delicious desserts and bites.  Several pricing packages are available depending on what you plan to sip and savor. More info HERE.

So, tell me. What do you have planned this weekend?
