Weekend Dispatch

This weekend, the Hubs, Harper, and I are heading to New York City overnight Friday for a Mets game. Harper is beyond excited to see the game (she's a huge fan, especially of Michael Conforto!), and I'm looking forward to a visit to NYC since it's been a while. We have a 2-hour train ride ahead of us, so here are a few of the ways I plan to stay occupied during the commute.

Speaking of baseball, there's no better time to catch a major or minor league game than in the summer. If you don't have an MLB team within a reasonable distance, chances are you have a minor league team. We are lucky enough to have 3 major league teams within an easy driving distance (two in NYC and one in Philadelphia) as well as a minor league team one town away from ours. I love major league games, but there's something very intimate about minor league teams. The stadiums are smaller, which makes every seat in the house a good one. The cost of a night out at a minor league game is significantly less expensive than a major league, so it's a great option for families. Click HERE to find a minor league team near you.

I love how Spotify creates playlists specifically for users based on what they listen to most often. Up until last week, those playlists were always music. But Spotify introduced a new, customized playlist called "Your Daily Drive", and it's a combination of music and news based on your heavy rotation artists and genres and news-related podcasts that you listen to most often. Although I don't have a commute, I like to listen to this playlist first thing in the morning either at the gym or as I am getting ready to start my day.

The second season of Big Little Lies debuted two weeks ago, and dare I say, it's even better than the first? Meryl Streep joins the cast this season, and, not surprisingly, she's phenomenal. Her character is part-devil, part-angel and is absolutely divine to watch. The show is just so well done. Everything from the plot line to the acting to the cinematography is top-notch. If you aren't already watching it, get moving!

Next week is the Fourth of July. It's a big barbecue holiday, but this year, I'm going to be making these festive red, white, and blueberry muffins for breakfast. If you want to skip the glaze, you could always add white chocolate chips to the muffins as the "white".

P.S., If you are local, the 2nd annual Asbury Park Rosé Fest is happening on Saturday at 2 pm in Kennedy Park. I would love to attend this, but I'm not sure I'll be back from New York City in time. For more info about this event, click here.

So, tell me. What do you have planned this weekend?
