Loving Lately: Multicolored Manis

Right now, the trendiest nail color is "all of them". The more colors you have on your nails, the more chic your mani will be. If you're anything like me and find it's an exhausting decision deciding which nail color to choose, you'll be happy to know that it's perfectly acceptable (and incredibly stylish) to  choose 5 colors.

The two manis that are incredibly popular at the moment are the rainbow mani and the gradient mani. The rainbow mani is each nail is painted a wildly different color. The gradient mani is each nail is painted a different shade within the same color family.

RAINBOW MANIS

Traditional Rainbow

Do you remember learning the mnemonic for the colors of the rainbow? I know I'll never forget it. "Roy G Biv". Every time I see a rainbow, I can't help but repeat that mnemonic to myself. This classic rainbow mani is vibrant, colorful, and eye catching. Photo source.


Abbreviated Rainbow

When you want a rainbow mani but want it to be symmetrical between both hands, this is your inspiration. This is a fun look, but I'm not sure I could keep it in place for more than 3 days. Photo source.


Muted Matte Rainbow

If you like the idea of rainbow nails but aren't thrilled about bright colors, then try this muted matte rainbow look. The colors are less vibrant and the matte finish dulls them even more. Source photo.

GRADIENT MANIS

Green Gradient

I love the idea of green nails, but it's not a color I could tolerate on my nails for very long. However, this gradient green mani has the prettiest shades of green with a yellow one mixed in that I think I could keep this on for a few weeks. Source photo.


Blue Gradient

I'm highly unlikely to wear any type of blue polish on my fingernails. The closest I'll get is a color called "Bobbing for Baubles" by essie because it's so dark that it's barely blue. But I do love this blue gradient mani because it mixes in shades of gray to tone down the blue. Photo source.


Pink Gradient

A pretty in pink mani, and chances are, you may already have all these colors in your nail polish collection. Photo source.

Brown Gradient Mani

As far as gradient manis go, this one is definitely my favorite. I have a tendency to gravitate towards colors like this. (If you ask my daughters, they'll tell you that I tend to wear the same shades over and over). These colors are some of my faves. Photo source.
