One of my favorite things to do while on vacation in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware is to watch the sunrise. It's such a peaceful time of the day.

Winter's Last Breath #wordlesswednesday

Winter is struggling to hold on here in the northeast. Making a last ditch effort to keep hold of its grip, winter delivered another sprinkling of snow overnight. As much as I am ready to welcome spring in all its glory, I'd be lying if I said this latest snowfall wasn't breathtakingly beautiful.

The light snowfall clung to trees and bushes and spared the streets and sidewalks.

Wordless Wednesday: A Captiva Island Sunset

I am taking a blogging break as my family and I enjoy a week's vacation on Captiva Island, Florida, a small island off Florida's west coast. Captiva is a tropical paradise. Reminiscent of a Caribbean island, Captiva has all the charms (swaying palm trees, steel drums, crystal clear water), but it's located within the U.S.

We stay at South Seas Island Resort, a family-oriented resort where we want for nothing.

Every day ends with a walk to the beach to take in a breathtaking sunset. On this particular day, the sky appeared to be on fire.

Our girls were just as enraptured as we were.

Wordless Wednesday: In The Woods in Rehoboth Beach

At the end of August, my daughters and I spent a week in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware with my sisters and their children.

One of the fondest memories I have of this vacation is the morning walks I would take with my sisters. In years past, it was usually my sister Brenda and I who would wake early and walk. But this year, my sisters April and Holly joined us.

Not only were these walks a chance to catch up with each other, but they were also a chance to explore the "off the beaten path" Rehoboth Beach.

Who would have guessed that just a few short blocks from the beach was this serene wooded area?

Over the hills and through the woods...

Rays of sunshine...

A quiet lake...

And we've come full circle. Back to the beach...

Don't you just love happening upon the unexpected?

Wordless Wednesday: Rain and Puddles

It's been a deluge lately. Torrential downpours several days in a row. Followed by a partly cloudy day. And then another deluge. Flash flooding and puddles the size of small wading pools have made it impossible to drive around my own town.

What's a girl to do? Throw on her rain boots and play in the puddles!

Wordless Wednesday: Making A Wish

Is there anything more spectacular to a child than blowing out the birthday candles and making a wish?

Quite possibly. But birthdays rank up there with ice cream for dinner and dancing in water puddles.

When I snapped this photo, I couldn't stop wondering what Harper was wishing for. I love that she thinks the sky is the limit and wishes well beyond it.

Here's to hoping all of her wishes come true.

Wordless Wednesday: Manasquan Beach 3-Months Post-Superstorm Sandy

Yesterday after I left the gym, I took a drive up to the beach in Manasquan. I haven't been to the beach since access was opened to the area. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but what I saw was unbelievable. Even after 3 months, there is still so much devastation and destruction. It's truly heartbreaking.

Gee-Gee's, a Manasquan Beach institution. No trip to Squan is complete without a slice of pizza from Gee-Gee's.

Beach access is blocked.

Beach towns are scurrying to move clean up and restoration efforts ahead for the summer tourist season. I know I'll be happy to see our beautiful Jersey beaches and town restored to their splendor once again.

Wordless Wednesday: Our Black Cat

I never thought I'd like a black cat when I allowed the girls to choose the cat that we would adopt back in September. They have no distinguishing markings like a tabby or a Siamese. The girls fell in love with a black kitten immediately, and that was that. She was coming home with us.

Four months later, we are all in love...

1. Overindulging on relaxation
2. Taking lots of pictures

It's just so hard to put my camera down. There are so many incredible photo opportunities that I fear I may miss just one. So, I always have my camera at the ready.
