Weekend Dispatch

Two weeks ago, I decided to try a new class, Active Rhythm, at my gym. I'm the type who can easily become very complacent at the gym: taking the same classes and using the same equipment, with some modifications and variations. So, when I decided on a whim to take this class, it was definitely a step outside of my comfort zone. As it turns out, I ran into two friends in the class, and we had an awesome time. Anyhow, it was a great reminder that trying something new is beneficial. I need to do it more often.

Here are a few more new things  (and few old ones) I'm enjoying this week:

In light of Luke Perry's untimely death yesterday, I've started watching Beverly Hills, 90210 again on hulu. Last night after spending most of the day engrossed in articles about Perry, I couldn't resist joining hulu and downloading the app. Last night, I watched the two initial pilot episodes. It is in the second one that Perry's character, Dylan McKay, is introduced. The series aired for 10 years, so I have a long way to go until the end, but I am in!

I've been a longtime follower of Jessica Sturdy's blog, Bows and Sequins, as well as her social media accounts. She reminds me a lot of me when I was in my mid to late twenties. I was independent, traveled a lot, worked my butt off, and thoroughly enjoyed life. In a way, following her is like a walk down memory lane. She recently announced that she was launching a podcast. It finally hit iTunes this week. She talks about life (including food, travel, health, fitness, fashion/style), entrepreneurship, blogging, and family/friends. Give it a listen here.

I loved this article about having a hobby without turning it into a hustle. I mean, seriously, whatever happened to making something (and being good at it) just for the sake of making it and enjoying it rather than selling it? This article is about living in the era of the hustle and how great our need is to turn everything into a money-making venture, especially if you are a creative type. Hobbies should be about enjoying them not re-purposing them.

If you like grilled cheese, you'll love this garlic Naan grilled cheese. It's ooey, gooey and delicious and a tasty switch from grilled cheese.

So, tell me. What do you have planned this weekend?
