Four Ways To Update Your Kitchen

Thursday, August 6, 2015
As a family, we spend a lot of time in our kitchen. When you spend as much time in your kitchen as we do, you want to love the kitchen you have. Improving the culinary space you have doesn't have to mean a floor to ceiling renovation. There are a few simple steps you can take to start loving your kitchen again.

Make It Shine
The kitchen is one of the dirtiest rooms in our homes. You may have thought that would be the bathroom, but no. There's more bacteria lingering in your kitchen than anywhere else in your house. There are lots of places in a kitchen that dirt can build up and hide without every noticing. I do a thorough cleaning of the counter daily, sometimes more if I've been cooking a little more that day than usual.  that we would not notice.

The next chance you get, give your kitchen a thorough clean. You'll be amazed by how much dirt has built up on the cabinet doors and counter tops. By the time I was finished cleaning them, I swear they sparkled!

Change It Up
One of the quickest and least expensive ways to make a change to my kitchen is to rearrange the items on my counter top or swap them out for newer or different items. It's amazing how inspirational the smallest change can be. Put your small appliances in the cabinet and replace them with a stack of cookbooks and a candle or a bowl of fruit.

Fix Any Broken Appliances
One reason you might be unhappy with your kitchen is because appliances have stopped working correctly. It could be something big and important like a fridge. It might still be working, but maybe it is not keeping food as cold as it used to. If that is the contact a refrigerator repair company and get it sorted out.

Often, when we have a smaller broken appliance we simply stop using it and it goes to the back of the cabinet. Better yet, repair or replace it. That way you will have everything you need in your kitchen working properly.

Update Your Equipment
An easy way to update your kitchen is to replace appliances. Not only do they look fabulous, but chances are they will be state-of-the-art with all the latest technological advances. However, brand new appliances are costly, and you may have to stagger your purchases and live with a mismatched kitchen for a bit. Eventually, you'll upgrade all of them, and your kitchen will look absolutely beautiful. Many newer appliances have built-in safety features making them ideal for cooking with your children.

These are just a few of ways you can get excited about cooking in your kitchen again. You may want to try others such as buying a new cookbook. Buying a new book filled with recipes is brilliant because you have a whole new lost of ideas to experiment with. Or, you could simply look some up on your tablet. Technology is a wonderful thing.
