What We're Reading

Monday, May 14, 2018

With the unofficial start of summer a mere two weeks away, I am making every effort to finish the book I am currently reading so that I can start fresh on my summer reading list (more to come on that topic!). Here's what we are currently reading.

What I'm Reading: How To Walk Away by Katherine Center
I was sent an advance copy of this book a month ago and finished it last week. I thought this book would be predictable, but I was pleasantly surprised by some of the unexpected twists and turns. That's not so say there weren't predictable moments. There were, but it turned out to be any enjoyable book about survival, love, and thriving no matter what your circumstances are.

What Emma's Reading: 4th of July by James Patterson
Emma's been wanting to read some murder/mysteries, so I suggested James Patterson books. I've read quite a few of his books (none recently) and have always enjoyed his style of writing.

What Harper's Reading: Inkheart by Cornelia Funke
Harper is currently reading this book for school. If you or child has ever read a book and imagined it coming to life, this book is for you. One night while Meggie's father reads Inkheart aloud, an evil ruler escapes from the book and lands in their living room. Meggie is in the middle of an adventure that she has only read about in books. It's up to Meggie to change the course of the story that has changed her life forever.
