4 Reasons Your Dog Has Lost His Appetite

photo via

Dogs love to eat! In fact, they will eat almost anything, whether it’s good for them or not. So it's only natural that we become alarmed when our dogs abruptly stop eating. When they turn their noses up at whatever you have put in their dish, it’s unlikely its because they are being fussy (although occasionally they might be). Here are four reasons why your dog may not be eating.

Weekend Dispatch

What we were expecting to be one of the worst weeks weather-wise here at the Jersey shore has turned out to be quite nice so far.  However, my friends in central PA haven't been so lucky. They've had over 12 inches of rain in just a day or so and have experienced widespread flooding. Keeping everyone in my thoughts and hoping for drier weather soon. In the meantime, here's what I'm up to this week whether it's rainy or sunny.

How To Overcome Persistent Flea Infestations

Pets fast become staple family members in our homes. Your kids probably love that puppy or kitten like a parent loves a child, and you’re pretty fond of it, too. And, as with any other member of the family, the chances are that you’d go above and beyond to keep your dog happy and healthy. You take them for regular checkups and watch what they eat for that exact reason.

No matter how much care you take of your pet, it always seems to have a continual flea infestation. It’s a headache many pet owners face, and it can cause real stress. After all, fleas do more than irritate. In fact, untreated, they leave your pet at risk to a whole host of issues, including:
  • Skin infections
  • Internal infections
  • Blood poisoning
  • Tape worms
  • Anemia

Frozé Watermelon Granita

In the summer months, you'll rarely find me drinking a cocktail that's something other than rosé or sparkling rosé. It's just so refreshing and hits the spot on a warm, sunny day. But sometimes rosé with a twist is a fun way to switch things up a bit while still enjoying my favorite wine. The recipe combines the elements of a frozé with that of a granita for a truly refreshing and tasty cocktail that's surprisingly easy to prepare.

Tips For Dealing With and Preventing Hearing Loss

photo via
In the current age of being plugged in to our phones, tablets, and other electronic devices 24/7, it's not surprising to hear that hearing loss is on the rise. Our devices have replaced radios and TVs, and the majority of us do our listening with earbuds, which means our hearing is likely being compromised. Nobody likes to be told that they have experienced some hearing loss, but the truth is that it is fairly common.

If you're experiencing partial hearing loss, your first concern is most likely that you want to avoid experiencing complete hearing loss. There are plenty of steps you can take to ensure that you look after your hearing when you have been told you've had some hearing loss.

Summer has well and truly arrived and it’s something special for families. School is out and the time that the children get over the long school vacation is perfect for being able to spend time together as a family. It doesn’t matter how old your kids are, everyone loves to go on vacation. The best part about the summer break is the fact it’s so long and the weather is beautiful; it makes packing in activities with the kids far easier!

You get to spend time putting together an fun and adventurous itinerary. Road trip planning doesn’t happen overnight. You have to figure out what you can afford, where you want to go, who is sitting where in the car, whether to hire a recreation vehicle to go alongside your trip or not. You also need to sit down with the kids and give them a chance to discuss what they would like to do and see on your trip. There are so many routes that you can take across the States for your road trip and it can truly be an educational experience for your children if you are seeing more than one historical site, landmark and even the beaches and theme parks for a little downtime.

Weekend Dispatch

Last weekend was one of those rare summer weekends where we had almost no plans. It was sooo nice. I was able to finish a book and start a new one, catch up on a few podcast episodes, watch two movies, and hit the farmers' market on Saturday morning with my husband. The tomatoes here in Jersey are almost at their peak! Here are a few of the things I've been loving this week and some ideas for the weekend ahead.

As common as this situation is, it is far from unavoidable. Thankfully, there are ways you can make mornings a little easier for your family and get everyone where they need to go without the stress.

What I Bought At The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

featured:

I know...you are probably sick and tired of hearing about this sale. It's pretty much the only thing most bloggers are talking about (and posting about) right now. But it's for good reason. It's an epic sale where you can score FALL 2018 apparel and accessories at up to 40% off. So, if you have a Nordstrom card, get on it. If you don't, you can apply for one HERE or wait for the Anniversary Sale to open to the general public on July 20th.

I honestly don't go crazy with this sale. I've seen and heard of people buying upwards of 50+ items. Not me. I buy a few things that I need for fall, and nothing I buy is crazy expensive. I love basics with a twist that I can find under $50. Today, I'm sharing the items I've purchased so far. I'm not sure I'll invest in anything else unless I see someone else with it, and I get the itch to buy it as well. But for now,  here's what I've purchased at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.

What To Wear To A White Party

You've been invited to a white party this summer, and you're feeling overwhelmed by what to wear. I get it. The thought of dressing in all white can be daunting. But it doesn't have to be. We've been invited to a party this summer, and rather than stress about the attire, I've embraced the challenge. Here are some ideas for what to wear and some tips for how to put your outfit together when attending a white party.

  • Keep the key components of your outfit white, but use accessories to inject color and texture into your overall look.
  • Experiment with shades of white. Your whites don't need to be matchy-matchy. Mix and match cool shades of white (gray-ish) with warm shades (beige-ish).
  • Accessorize with metallics. Gold and silver work very well with whites and help to balance the strong, bright shade.

How To Prepare For The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

There'a a lot I love about summer, and this sale is one of them. The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is one of the biggest sales of the year. It's unique in that it's not a clearance of merchandise leftover from previous seasons. But rather, the sale offers consumers the opportunity to score great deals on upcoming fall merchandise. Let's break it down and find out why you want to know about this sale.

What: The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is the biggest sale of the year. While most sales focus on liquidating end-of-season inventory, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale offers discounts on BRAND NEW FALL MERCHANDISE. Prices are discounted during the sale period and go back up to regular price at the close of the sale.

Weekend Dispatch

Last week was a complete whirlwind (in all the good ways!). My husband's second cousin and his wife and 4 children were visiting from the Boston area. Although they didn't stay with us, we spent a lot of time with them at my husband's cousin's home in Bay Head, New Jersey. Our daughters and their daughters are very close in age and get along wonderfully. I was either dropping them off at my husband's cousin's home or picking them up or going back for a barbecue. This week's pace is definitely slower, and I have to say, I am missing the fast, hectic pace of last week and missing spending time with family.

But don't fret! I'm never one to sit idly for very long. Here's what I'll be up to this week:

3 Tips For Living With A Senior Dog

photo via

The times out in the park with your pet dog are some of the best moments of your life. It's simple, there’s not much going on, but you, nature and your dog are having a blast. The mere fact that dogs run like crazy and have such a happy smirk on their face as they bound around and release all their energy, puts a smile on our faces.

Maybe it's something philosophical that we humans and dogs share; the feeling of freedom. That’s why they’re called ‘man’s best friend’. They have many qualities that could be deemed human-like. One of them is getting old and not being that same feisty person you once were. Dogs live about a 13-15 year lifespan, so they get old quite quickly compared to us. Which is why there can be a bit of a bridge between us as we don’t understand how they could change so quickly. Take your time with them and help them adapt to their age with these 3 tips.

5 Household Electronics You Can’t Live Without

This is the age of electronics. Every job today depends on one electronically run thing or another. We all have one thing in which our whole world lies: our phone. We can use it for its basic purpose which is calling and texting. Besides that emails, ordering food, making payments, transferring funds, getting a loan, and so much more can be done from your phone at your convenience. I could go on and on about what we can do with our phones. But how about those things we can't do with a phone?
Maintain our houses! Research shows tons of dust falls on the Earth's surface everyday from outer space. The means that dust is falling directly on each of our houses too. There is plenty of technology developed for the purpose or removing dirt, dust, and other pollutants from our homes so they are healthier and cleaner.
