My Little Graduate

Monday, June 6, 2011
The day finally came...and went. In a flash it was over. I feel like this has been the story of my life for the past 5 years. Time whizzes while I seem to be standing still.

On Friday Harper graduated from preschool. I anticipated the day for months. I psychologically prepared myself for months. And finally, on the eve of her graduation, the reality hit me. My baby is going to Kindergarten next year. She'll be in school 5 days per week for 6+ hours per day. I'm going to miss her...terribly.

I won't deny that, if I could, I'd freeze her growth right this very moment. She's perfect at this age. But as much as I'd like to do that, she'd have none of it. She's excited for Kindergarten. She's excited to ride the bus, to eat in a large cafeteria, to have "library" and "gym". How can I deny her that?

And so, on Friday, she was excited to graduate from preschool, to share a special moment with friends.

Although Harper's over the moon about Kindergarten, she is sad that her bestie will be going to a different elementary school (our town has 2). They will, however, have plenty of play dates to catch up on Kindergarten.

So long preschool. It's been fun. Kindergarten, here we come!

Congratulations to my baby and to all of her friends!
