Tuesday's Tasty Treat: Oreo Truffles

Tuesday, January 8, 2013
Although quick and easy to make, decadent Oreo Truffles are best reserved for a special occasion. Emma made them for our New Year's Eve celebration. The bite-sized rich, chocolatey truffles were the perfect dessert for ringing in 2013!

1  14.3 oz. package of Oreos (original)
1    8 oz. block cream cheese, softened
1   12 oz. bag of semi-sweet chocolate morsels or 11.5 oz. bag of milk chocolate morsels
1   12 oz. bag white chocolate morsels
2 Sandwich-sized plastic bags

1. In a food processor, pulse the entire package of Oreos until they resemble small crumbs.

2. In a separate bowl, mix the Oreo crumbs and cream cheese together until well blended.

3. Roll into balls about the size of a walnut. Place on a cookie sheet and cover with plastic wrap.

4. Chill for at least an hour.

5. In separate bowls, melt both chocolates until smooth.

6. Stick a toothpick into the Oreo balls and place in either one of the melted chocolates. Place the Oreo balls on a cookie sheet lined with waxed paper.

7. Chill for 30 minutes.

8. In separate sandwich bags, Place remaining melted chocolates.

9. Remove chilled Oreo balls from the refrigerator.

10. Snip a small corner of each sandwich bag. Drizzle melted chocolate over the Oreo balls.

11. Chill for 30 minutes before placing in an air-tight container. Keep refrigerated.

Yields about 30 truffles.
