Weekend Dispatch

We're off again! We've been back from Rehoboth Beach for only a few days, and on Thursday morning we are jet setting to Salt Lake City for my nephew's wedding. However, in the days since we've been home, a lot has happened. After you read about that, you'll understand just how much we need both a break and and some time with family to celebrate a joyous occasion. So, here's what I'll be doing this weekend and on the flight out to SLC. Enjoy your week and weekend! xx

Our first night, we are staying in downtown Salt Lake City to adjust to the altitude before we move even further up the mountain. Our final destination is Alta Lodge which is a staggering 8,600 feet above sea level. Yikes! I'm super excited, and the bride-to-be sent a detailed itinerary today with suggestions for activities and fun things to do. Mountainside yoga, hiking, gorgeous views over cocktails? Sign me up! There's a welcome barbecue dinner on Friday evening. The wedding is Saturday evening, and then we finish up with a brunch on Sunday and possibly a beer (or two!) at Oktoberfest. And then we head back on a red eye flight Sunday evening. I'll have a full recap on the blog next week!

We have a long flight from Philadelphia to Phoenix and then on to Salt Lake City. A good book is a must for our cross country flight. I've downloaded Tangerine by Christine Mangan. If you loved The Talented Mr. Ripley, you'll love this book. I'm super excited to get started on this. It's been hard not to start it, but I'm really trying to save it for the flight. Synopsis: Newylwed Alice is reluctantly vacationing in Tangier with her husband when her old school friend, Lucy, turns up unexpectedly and begins using Alice’s name. Sounds like a goodie, right?

With everything that has happened in the past week, it's no wonder that my anxiety has been at an all-time high. I have a difficult time shutting my brain off at times like this. In fact, most time I find it rambling on and on, and I can't seem to figure out how to calm it. When I came across The Overwhelmed Brain podcast, I felt my blood pressure lower several points. It's like a free therapist. They seem to pinpoint exactly the anxieties that most of us experience most often. When I scrolled through the list of episodes, I honestly wanted to listen to all of them at once. I've downloaded a few of them and plan to dive in on the plane when I'm not reading.

On our first night in Salt Lake City we are headed to Wasatch Brewery with my husband's family for dinner. I don't drink a lot of beer, but when I do, it's always craft brews. While I'm super excited to catch up with family I haven't seen in a while, I'm equally excited to try some new-to-me brews. Bottoms up!

So, tell me. What do you have planned this weekend?
