What We're Reading

Monday, April 22, 2019
Tomorrow we leave for a spring break trip to San Diego, and since it's a long flight, we've stocked up on books for the flights there and back. I plan to spend most of the flights reading, but I'm sure the girls will end up watching movies most of the time. But in either case, they've downloaded books in the event that they have the desire to read.

Here's what we'll be reading while we spring break in sunny southern California.

What I'm Reading: The Neighbors by Hannah Mary McKinnon
Since this book was a $2.99 download on Amazon, I checked out the reviews on Goodreads before deciding to purchase it. There were so many rave reviews, and it sounds like the type of psychological thriller that I love. It's one of those "the past secrets come to light in a strange twist of fate" kind of stories. I love those. Can't wait to sit back and relax on the flight with this one.

What Emma's Reading: Five Feet Apart by Rachael Lippincott
If you have a teen who liked John Green's The Fault in Our Stars, this book will appeal to them. Two star-crossed teenagers can't get within 5 feet of each other or they risk their lives. This book answers the question, "Can you love someone you can never touch"?

What Harper's Reading: The Devil's Arithmetic by Jane Yolen
Harper is reading this book in her language arts class at school. It's the story of a young girl's harrowing experience in a Nazi concentration camp during World War II. Harper has just started the book, and she said so far, it's very good but also very sad. Harper said she likes reading these books because it's important for her to know and understand the horrors that occurred in concentration camps despite how disturbing the details are.
