Where Will You Go (After Quarantine)?
Tuesday, April 14, 2020About two weeks before our governor ordered us into quarantine, we had considered making last minute plans to go away for a short spring break trip. Usually we gift the girls a trip as part of their Christmas present, but we didn't do that last Christmas. With Emma graduating from high school and Harper from middle school, we had planned to use some of the spring break trip funds on graduation parties and gifts. But when airfares and hotel rates dropped drastically, we had second thoughts. Until I really thought about it. I knew it wasn't happening. I knew travel would be halted and we'd be at home. This week is the kids' spring break, and a little part of me feels like we are missing out on a trip even though we had nothing planned.
But it has gotten me thinking about travel plans when the bans are lifted and we can start getting out and about again. I've been thinking a lot about our spring break trip to California last year and wishing we were going again this year. The picture above was taken at the Santa Monica pier. It's been fun to browse Pinterest looking at all the travel pics and dream a little about exotic locales.
Where will you go when we can travel again?
For local travel, we are hoping Jersey shore beaches will open at some point in June. I'm assuming they won't open for Memorial Day weekend, but we are keeping our fingers crossed that they will open to the public by the end of June. Being able to spend our summers at the beach is one of the reason we live here at the Jersey shore, and it wouldn't be the same without it. 🤞
We would also love to go to Tampa at some point in the near future to visit my sister and niece and squeeze in a trip to Disney World while we are there. We haven't been back to Disney since 2012, and a lot has changed. The last time we were there, the girls were 6 and 10. There are so many "big rides" that they'd love to experience now that they are older.
As for international travel, I really want to go to to Copenhagen, Denmark. I've been researching it and drooling over pictures on Pinterest, and it looks so beautiful. That kind of trip is a ways off, but it's at the top of my travel bucket list.
But for now, I'll have to do my dreaming from my backyard deck, my front porch, or a while strolling along the Manasquan River.
