Professional makeup artists know how to put on makeup so that their clients look beautiful, flawless and stunning. Even better, they know how to do this fast. So, if you want to do your makeup to a higher standard, check out these makeup artist approved tips:

Don’t Neglect Your Skin
Every good makeup artist knows that, before you apply makeup, you need to have a clean, clear and smooth face, which is why they will always advise clients to cleanse, exfoliate and moisturize regularly. This should be your starting point too.

Primed for Action
One thing that every makeup artist has in her beauty supply case is a good primer. Using a primer is the key to getting a professional look. The right primer will smooth, soften and reduce redness, so it is really important not to skip this step. It helps lay the base for a flawless look.

Use High Pigment Makeup
If you have acne scars, red spots or dark patches that are difficult to hide, using a high pigment concealer will sort the problem out straight away.

Use a BeautyBlender
Using a BeautyBlender is the best way to apply foundation for a flawless look. Simply apply a small amount of foundation to the sponge and, working from the inside out, stipple on the foundation until full coverage is achieved. I can't live without my BeautyBlender. It's especially helpful when you need to blend to avoid creases in fine lines.

Double Up on Eyeliner
If you want to create a strong look with your liner, that also lasts the distance, draw the initial lines on with a soft eyeliner pencil , before retracing your steps with a liquid liner. It’s much easier to create strong line right with a pencil, but liquid liner looks better and lasts longer.

Invest in an Eyebrow Kit
Fuller eyebrows will make your face look younger and more attractive, so if you have sparse brows, invest in an eyebrow kit to fill your brows and ensure that the rest of your face looks more youthful than ever before.

Rotate Your Mascara Brush
If you rotate your mascara brush as you move it from root to tip, it will have the effect of lengthening your lashes, even if you are using just a basic mascara product.

Use a Lip Liner
If you want your lips to look fuller, not only should you use a lip plumper, but you should also very carefully trace the shape of your lips, ever so slightly above, below the lip line, before applying lipstick. This will give your lips more volume and increased definition.

Use Translucent Powder to Set

If you want your makeup to last longer, applying a thin layer of loose translucent powder is all you need to do. You could also purchase a setting spray, but it isn’t strictly necessary.

Apply Your Blush Last
A lot of people will advise you to apply blush before your foundation, but most makeup artists apply it after powder so that they can gauge exactly how much they need to add a pop of color to the cheeks and complete the overall look of their clients. Ideally, you should use a cream blush and very lightly sweep it across your cheeks.
