This August was definitely atypical of an East coast August. No dog days here. The humidity was low. We had no scorching hot days. It was an ideal summer month for hair and makeup. While I didn't have to spring some of my best anti-frizz products in to action, I did rely heavily on these beauty items during August.
1. Babo Botanicals sunscreen
In true summer send-off fashion, we spent lots of time at the beach and the pool in August. All that time in the sun requires a sunscreen that stands up to UVA/UVB rays, water, and sweat. And with all the research on toxic chemicals in conventional sunscreens out there, it's also a plus if it's all-natural. Babo Botanicals makes a line of several sunscreens that are perfect for kids and adults. This one happens to be my favorite. I use it on both my face and my body for complete coverage that lasts for hours.
2. Almay Eye Makeup Remover Pads $7
I bought a trial size container of these pads to take on vacation, and while away, I fell in love with them. Normally, I use coconut oil to remove my makeup, but I didn't want to pack my big jar of coconut oil so I opted for these pads instead. What I discovered is that these pads are oil-free so they leave behind no oily residue that gets stuck in my eyes and leaves behind a film. I'm sticking with these pads for removing all of my eye makeup!
3. Benefit's The Porefessional Pore Minimizer $31
I've been using this for years, so it isn't exactly a new beauty find. But I did sort of rediscover it this August when I relied on it to minimize pores that the heat was responsible for enlarging. Not a good look. The Porefessional excels at minimizing pores, and it's also slightly tinted so it conceals as well as primes.
4. Peter Thomas Roth Mega-Rich Body Lotion $15
It's hard to find a lotion that combines a fresh, light scent with effective moisturizing powers. Many are fragrant but don't provide the all-day moisturizing that I need while others are great for moisturizing but smell horribly. Peter Thomas Roth body lotion has the great combination of both and has quickly become my go-to lotion.
