Remember when expertly styled glasses of crisp rosé were all the rage on Instagram? It seemed every other picture on IG was a refreshing glass of rosé that made you want to crack open a bottle and pour a glass. Rosé has moved over and is being quickly replaced by the aperol spritz, a sunshine-hued cocktail. The year's most fashionable drink is blowing up Instagram and is a popular choice because it's not the kind of cocktail that knocks you over after just one. You could spend a few hours sipping a few over brunch and easily walk away unscathed.
It's smooth and refreshing. Although you can find many variations of the recipe, the traditional calls for its namesake herbal-citrus liqueur (Aperol), prosecco and soda. But walk into any establishment and you'll find many riffs of the popular drink. Here's one of my favorite ways to prepare an Aperol spritzer.
INGREDIENTS
2 oz. Aperol
6 oz. Sparkling Ice Lemon Lime
Orange twist, for garnish
DIRECTIONS
In an ice filled Collins glass, add Aperol and float with Sparkling Ice Lemon Lime.
Garnish with an orange twist and serve.
