Do you have a dream of owning a house that you absolutely love? Do you want a bigger house, a prettier house, a house in a different location? If you’ve answered yes to any (or all) of those, you’re not alone. You may find yourself so far away from where you actually want to be. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t get the house that you really want. It just means that you need to work that little bit harder to get it. You may need to think about selling your home in order to move forward with buying your dream home. But how exactly do you go about doing that when you seem so far from your ultimate goal? Start here:
1. Set A Goal
Unless you know what
you want and what you’re working towards, you just won’t be able to make it
yours. Think about what you want in your dream house. Where is
it? What does it look like? How much is it? Think about when you want to
get this house. Will it be a year from now? Five years from now? Sit down and figure out what you can reasonably achieve in a specified timeframe so that you achieve your goal.
2. Create A Savings Plan
Think about putting together a savings plan. You'll need to determine how much you'll need for a down payment,
how long it will take to save the money, and what you need to be saving each month or each
week. It might seem like a lifetime away, but as soon as you start
to get that money together and you see your savings stack it, it will
motivate you to keep going.
3. Consider New Construction
If your goal is to create your own, you might want to look
into house and land packages,
consider land prices, and speak to an architect. If building and designing your own home is your dream, you'll need to factor in the different
costs and timescales here.
4. Buy Cheap & Renovate
If the idea of new construction is daunting, think about buying a dream house that
needs a TON of work. Generally, buying this type of home means you’re going to get more house
for your budget. Spend your money on the fixer-upper and make it exactly what you want. And finally, you will have your
dream home!
