Playing Favorites

Playing Favorites is a monthly series where I share my latest obsessions, favorite finds, and any kind of entertainment (books, movies, TV, podcasts, and magazines) that I am loving.

1. Bose® SoundLink® Mini II Bluetooth® Speaker
My husband bought me this speaker for Christmas because he despises the acoustics on my Macbook. I didn't really realize how bad they were until I fired up the speaker. Wow! It delivers incredible sound whether you're listening in your home office, while you shower, or even in the car.

2. Hamilton Beach Nonstick Iron
I very rarely iron, but when I went to iron a pair of linen curtain panels recently, I realized that my iron was in bad shape. Not only was it about 15 years old, the bottom was rusty (not good when you are ironing white linen) and dirty. So, I immediately set out online in search of a new iron. It has been a while since I was in the market for an iron. I had no idea that some retail for upwards of $200!!! This one is only $40, and I like to think I got a good deal.

3. Leaders AC Clear Treatment Mask
That pesky peri menopausal acne has reared it's ugly head, and I'm fighting back with this mask. I've been using it 2 to 3 times per week, and it has been effective at controlling breakouts. It's very cooling while it's on, and I like that you peel it off and massage the remaining serum on your face rather than rinse it off.

4. Sambazon Açai Smoothie Packs
I've been making smoothies at home like crazy lately. I've been hitting the gym like a mad woman this month, and rather than buy a smoothie at the gym's juice bar, I've been opting for the less expensive option of making them at home. These smoothie packs are frozen and require thawing in hot water for about 1 minute before you add it to the blender. They are loaded with antioxidants and Omegas, and they are delicious. Just add fresh or frozen fruit, a liquid (a like coconut water or unsweetened coconut milk), and plain Greek yogurt. Give it a whirl in the blender, and you are good to go. I buy them at Whole Foods, but you can find your local retailer on the web site (link above).

5. Korres White Grape Shower Gel
I prefer shower gel to soap, but often shower gels can have such an overpowering or underwhelming scent that it's difficult to find one I like. When a friend recommended the Korres shower gels, I went online and purchased the one shown above. It has a fresh, light scent that actually lasts. It's available in a wide variety of scents, but I prefer scents of the lighter variety.

6. NPR One App
I mentioned the NPR One app in last week's Weekend Dispatch, but it definitely bears repeating. I've been spending every spare moment catching up on current events and podcasts with NPR One. I even listened today while I walked two miles on the treadmill. If you love Tom Hanks (and I do!), you can't miss the podcast that he guest hosts on "Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me!" He is so quick and witty, and Simone Biles calls in to chat. Fun!
