Weekend Dispatch

Last week was the first full week of school, and surprisingly, it was an uneventful week. Things ran smoothly each morning. And I'd be lying if I didn't admit that there's a little part of me that's disappointed that my girls don't need me as much in the mornings anymore. I used to do their hair, make their breakfasts, and re-check that they had everything they needed for their day. Now, they do it all on their own. It's bittersweet, but all in, I'm happy for their independence. I have Emma's back-to-school night on Thursday, and otherwise, we are trying to keep this weekend open.

Here's what else what I'll be up to this week:

The pop musician Fletcher recently released an EP titled you ruined new york city for me. Fletcher hails from the Jersey shore, and last week I was lucky enough to run into her at a local establishment where the drummer who will be on tour with her was playing with his band. How fun, right? She didn't sing, but it was lovely to meet her (see photo above). She was in town to kick off her world tour in Asbury Park. I love her music, but her success story is just as impressive. You can listen to her on Spotify here. And don't miss this clip when she appeared on Jimmy Fallon.

In an effort to declutter, I've been going through old cooking magazines for the past two weeks. I am literally going page by page and pinning recipes that I think I'll eventually make (I'm kidding, right??!!). I came across this one for Mexican chopped salad, and it looked very appetizing. It's a lot like a Greek salad but with uniquely Mexican ingredients (think Cojita cheese, corn, avocado, and cilantro). Tossed with a light vinaigrette that includes lemon and lime juice, and you've got yourself a meal.

I am always revising my Instagram following list from unfollowing old/non-existent accounts to following new/relevant ones. I recently discovered @thiswashollywood and am literally obsessed. When I first discovered the account, I spent hours scouring it. It's filled with the best vintage photos of Hollywood's finest from Paul Newman to Lucille Ball to John Travolta. Check it out. If you love old Hollywood glam, you'll devour this account.

I don't have a whole lot of brand loyalty when it comes to body washes. If it smells good and doesn't cost an arm and a leg, I'll buy it. On a whim I bought Soap & Glory's Clean Girls Mist You Madly Body Wash at Ulta over the weekend. It was buy one, get one 40% off so I also bought The Righteous Butter Lotion, and the combination is heavenly. They smell wonderful, light and feminine, which I love.

So, tell me. What do you have planned this weekend?
