Happy March ~ Letter From The Editor

Tuesday, March 1, 2016

What is it that they say? "March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb"? I've never found that saying to be very true. By March, my mind has completely settled on spring, but Mother Nature never quite gets the memo. We've had a somewhat mild winter with the exception of a sprinkling of brutally cold days and a couple of snowstorms. It's the mild weather that has spoiled me, and I can't wait for it to be consistently warm and sunny.

Until then, I'll keep plugging away and savoring the days like today when it's 61 degrees.

This month on the blog we'll make the transition from winter to spring in every way. From beauty to food to fashion to travel, I'll focus on spring-friendly content as we bid winter its final farewell (good riddance). This month will see the return of my Save vs. Splurge series where I highlight two comparable items at very different price points. I'll be compiling and sharing questions from readers and of course, the answers. (If you've got a burning question for me, email it to me at piecesofamom@gmail.com).

I added a SHOP MY FAVES page several months ago. It's a curated collection of my favorite things and a few items on my own wishlist. I am finally unveiling it. Stop by and check it out. Maybe you'll find something for yourself or a gift for someone special.

Easter comes early this year. I'll share a few Easter recipes, outfit ideas for moms as well as girls, and a few non-candy Easter basket ideas.

I'll be starting a new series this month called "Out & About in New Jersey", which will focus on introducing you to small businesses I love throughout the state. I've taken the former "Spotlight on the Jersey Shore" and expanded it with "Out & About". I hope you like it.

If there is anything specific you'd like to see featured on the blog, drop me a line at piecesofamom@gmail.com.

In the meantime, don't miss these popular stories from February.

March Must-Haves

Buy yourself a pair of these peep-toe booties then book your pedicure appointment for spring.

This striped dress is perfect for casual weekends. Pair it with a pair of Converse Shoreline sneakers or with your favorite booties. For chillier days, layer with a denim jacket.

In spring, I switch over to a lighter, fresher perfume. Over the weekend, I bought the Clean Dual Cotton Rollerball, and I cannot wear enough of it. It's has dual scents: one is cooler clean scent, and the other is a bit warmer.

I love bouquets of fresh flowers all year long, but never more than in the spring when they are in season here in New Jersey. This pretty vase will hold all my favorites from peonies to ranunculus.
