It's been a crazy, busy, emotional week here. The last day of school is today, and with that comes a host of end-of-year activities, events, and shows. Plus, Harper graduated from elementary school yesterday, and that's brought a whole other level of emotion to my otherwise peri menopausal emotional state. Needless to say, I've been need of distractions.
In today's Friday Fresh Picks, I'm sharing a few fun things on my radar lately that have proven to be great distractions when I've needed to step back for just a moment. I hope you find something here that piques your interest.
ONE
A few months ago I told my sister that if Fleetwood Mac ever tours again, we are going to see them. Hello, bucket list. Looks like I'll be able to cross this one off my list as Stevie Nicks is reuniting with the band to go on tour.
TWO
I've taken a break from my weekly menu plan posts because I felt uninspired and burned out. But when I found this YouTube series, I was intrigued. I've been trying to find some fresh and inventive ways to prepare meals on busy nights and during busy weeks to save time. This series of videos solves my dilemma.
THREE
I am a stickler for misspelled words and am fascinated by spelling bees. When I came across this article about the youngest Scripps Spelling Bee competitor, I was blown away. She is just 5 years old!!! It's crazy. She has been preparing to go up against children twice her age. Go, girl!
FOUR
I have long been a fan of J. Crew. It all started back in the late 80s with the roll neck sweaters and barn jackets. But more recently the company has experienced sluggish sales in a competitive economy. Former CEO Mickey Drexler gives his take on the biggest mistake the company made and why it's been an uphill battle to recover from it.

I've been on a mission to clean up my diet since the beginning of the year. It has required some discipline on my part as well as some research. There are a lot of foods that we misconceive as healthy but in actuality they aren't. Are you eating any of these foods and thinking they are good for you?

I'm always looking for new twists on old favorites. This grilled Caesar salad looks absolutely delicious and is a nice change from the same old, same old Caesar salad you've happily been preparing for years.
