Becoming The New You In 2018 - How To Begin

Tuesday, December 19, 2017

When it comes to approaching the new year and being a much better, different person, it can be difficult to know where to start. In an effort to become more satisfied, perhaps meet more people, and maybe get in shape or eat better, it can be easy to see ourselves as the problem. If your general life has been lacking lately, or you feel inclined to rejuvenate your attitude in 2018, you’re in the right place.

Here are some tips that will hopefully help you become the new you in the next year, and help you figure out where to begin.

Start Something Artistic
An artistic hobby is important to keep, even for those low in creativity. Expressing yourself is almost always the most beautiful thing you can do, especially when you’re happy to express despite a lack of skill. Maybe you've always wanted to take a photography or film making class. Or maybe finding a canvas and painting your emotions can truly help you unlock them, no matter how limited your skill set is. The best thing about art? The beauty of art is that there is no such thing as a ‘perfect’ piece of art.

Of course, some may consider a piece to be perfect, but that’s more of a subjective thing. The power of art is that it fosters different opinions in different people. Two people watching a movie together may come to two completely separate conclusions about what the story meant. This fact should free you, and give you more room to make mistakes, or rather “happy accidents.” You can be sure that your overall satisfaction and authority over your life will improve when exercising the benefits of an artistic hobby.

Head Elsewhere
You deserve a vacation. If you’re in a cold climate this time of year, heading somewhere warm and far away (Australia or New Zealand!) with summer flip flops and airy dresses in tow can open you up to a wonderful and renewed sense of relaxation. Sometimes in order to de-stress you simply need to get away from everything surrounding you.

This allows you to return home feeling renewed and refreshed. It also allows you to think perspectively and see the bigger picture when you’re less caught up in the daily ritual and grind of your life. Maybe you’ve noticed that your career is less impressing to you as it used to be. Maybe you realize that you truly do love your boyfriend or girlfriend, and you’re considering tying the knot. Maybe it’s time you need to take to fully digest your last child moving on to begin their lives and careers.

Whatever the consideration, you can be sure that heading elsewhere will help with it, at least for a time. Starting your new year off with a memory that means so much to you is surely one of the most important (if not THE most important) ways to ring it in.

Wishing you a wonderful, happy and satisfied 2018 with a fresh start.
