Weekend Dispatch

Last weekend's weather was glorious (well, Friday and Saturday were gorgeous, anyway)! It made me wish summer would get here just a little faster. It was so nice to be outside and get a little Vitamin D naturally. While this coming weekend isn't going to be as spectacular, it's not going to be a throw away either. In addition to going to see Emma's lacrosse game on Saturday morning and my great-nephew's birthday party on Sunday, here's what else I'll be up to this weekend:

For my local followers, the Point Pleasant Borough Environmental Commission is hosting it's annual Earth Day celebration this Saturday from 12-4 at Riverfront Park in Point Pleasant. Come out and meet vendors who will be on hand to give you tips for lessening your carbon footprint. You'll learn about ways to help our environment, assist pollinators in your yard, and learn new ways to be green in your daily life and how to make everyday Earth Day. Click here for more info.

We live in a town where the performing arts are valued. Our local schools put a heavy focus on them, and we have no lack of talent in the area. On Saturday, Harper and I will be attending her middle school's performance of Into The Woods. I am so excited to see these young performers, and she is excited to see her peers on stage. You can see the performance on Thursday, April 19th at 7:00 pm and Saturday, April 21st at 2:00 pm at the Loren C. Donley Performing Arts Center at Point Pleasant Borough High School. More info here.

I've never been good at falling asleep. My mind is usually racing and replaying the day's event and anticipating what the next day will bring. Lately, I've implemented a few steps to help me fall into a restful slumber more easily, but sometimes I need a little something more. The podcast Sleep With Me is designed to offer maximum boredom so you fall asleep quickly and with little effort. It focuses your attention away from your thinking mind and onto a bedtime story that will make you forget about your problems, cares, and worries so that you are asleep in minutes.

For lunch yesterday, the Hubs bought me a Caprese stuffed avocado from a local Italian market. It was so delicious that I immediately went online to find a recipe...not that I necessarily needed one. This is a super simple recipes to make and can be done by winging it. But I did find this one if you have no idea where to start.

You know animals are near and dear to my heart, and any fundraiser for animals is one I will definitely support. On Friday, April 20th you can join Frye Brewing Company and Jersey Shore Animal Center for an evening of beer and fun.

Your $25 donation will get you a flight of assorted beer, an exclusive tour of the brewery, a free pint of beer, snacks, & a night of fun!!! MUST be 21 years old & older to participate.vAll proceeds will benefit the animals currently under the care of Jersey Shore Animal Center.
