Since becoming a mother, Mother's Day has taken on a whole new meaning. It's not only a day to be recognized for all we do as mothers, but it's a chance for me to show my daughters how much they mean to me. For me, that generally translates to experiences more so than gifts (although receiving a small gift that I love is always appreciated!). Last year, Emma and Harper took me to brunch and paid for it! I know they don't have or earn a lot of money, so that small gesture and time spent together meant so much more to me than a random gift.

Valentine's Day Gifts For Teen Girls

Brace yourself. Valentine's Day is upon us. The grocery stores will soon be filled with red roses and heart-shaped boxes of chocolates. Although the Hubs and I don't exchange gifts, we do like to get the girls a small gift. The gifts are generally inexpensive (under $50/each) and are functional or at the very least fun.

If you're not into heart-themed items, there are plenty of cute items that are pink or red. I love this desk accessories set, and this hair straightener is super cute. If you want to give a decadent box of chocolates, this one is unique. And this glitter makeup bag is perfect for sleepovers.

Holiday Gift Guide: Harper's Wish List

Monday, December 17, 2018
Every year since they were able to write, my daughters have put together Christmas lists. They've been helpful to "Santa" as well as to family members looking for gift ideas. As the years have passed, the lists have evolved. They started out as short lists of scribbled misspelled words and have now become elaborate lists of printed photos and URLs since they now know who "Santa" is.

And I might add that as my girls have gotten older, the items on the wish lists have become fewer but more expensive. Gone are the days of the $20 art kits and $5.00 books. Now it's expensive electronics and brand name clothing.

For today's gift guide feature, I'm sharing what's on Harper's holiday wish list. It's short, sweet, and age-appropriate for an 12 year old.

My Favorite Way To Comfort a Cancer Patient

Tuesday, April 24, 2018

This post is sponsored by The Motherhood and Wrapped In Love. All opinions expressed are my own.

Often our first response when we hear that someone we know has been diagnosed with cancer is shock. Then we run through a list of questions in our minds. How can that be possible? Why did it happen to her? Eventually we shift from reaction mode to action mode, and we want to do something to help show our love and support.

I learned pretty quickly when my sister was diagnosed with endometrial cancer and a dear friend was diagnosed with breast cancer that any small act of kindness is greatly appreciated. A simple card with a thoughtful sentiment seems small, but in the eyes of the recipient, it's a grand gesture. Today my sister and my friend are cancer-free and have long put their days of chemotherapy treatments behind them. Although the long, dark days of chemo may no longer be part of their lives, I can safely say that my sister and friend will never forget those incredibly difficult days.
