October Beauty Buys

Thursday, November 19, 2015
My transition from summer to fall is always a slow and awkward one. Since we go on vacation every November to Florida for 10 days, I'm always reluctant to begin fall until we return. I never pack away my summer clothes or change up my beauty routine until vacation has ended and we are back in the northeast for the winter.

This October, however, I added a few new beauty products to my routine as the cold weather has snuck up on me and was getting the better of my hair and skin. Take a look at what I was introduced to last month and have quickly become attached to.

Olay Fresh Effects {See Spot Wipe} Oil-Reducing Wet Cloths
My peri menopausal skin has been very prone to breakouts lately. I decided to try these makeup removing wipes in an effort to tame the acne. I've been using them prior to cleansing to remove stubborn dirt and makeup and control the oil on my forehead and chin, specifically. I've seen a reduction in my breakouts, and my skin is less oily.

Dessange Pre-Shampoo Hair Mask
My forties have not been kind to my hair. Not only has the texture changed but my ends are dry and my roots are oily. Not a great combination. Luckily, I discovered a line of products that are specially formulated for this unique combination. This cleansing clay-based mask is applied prior to shampooing. I've been using it once a week for the past 6 weeks. It's removed excess oil so much so that I've really cut back on the amount of dry shampoo I need to use on the days I don't wash my hair. The mask comes with a brush for easy application.

Dessange Balancing Shampoo
I've been using the shampoo daily, and it has brought my hair back to life, especially after a week of vacation in chlorinated pools and the salt water. It contains natural green clay to purify hair and nourish from roots to ends. I like it so much better than a clarifying shampoo, and it has a nice, light scent. Neutrogena Rainbath Renewing Shower and Bath Gel {pear & green tea}
I had been in search of a shower gel that thoroughly cleansed without leaving behind a residue which so many other shower gels seem to do. I read about this product in a magazine and decided to give it a go. The scent alone is amazing. It lingers in the bathroom long after you've finished showering. My skin is softer and isn't screaming for moisturizer as soon as I turn off the water.
