Last weekend the Hubs spent 4 days in Florida on a golf trip. While he was away, I finished a book and started another one, watched Adventures in Babysitting with Harper, whipped up a mean veggie stir fry with ingredients leftover from a crudité platter from the Super Bowl, and cleaned out and reorganized my makeup and beauty products (no small feat!).
Here's what I am up to this week:
Where are my 90s music fans? Or maybe I should be asking where my cover song fans are? Either way, you'll love Weezer's recently released Teal Album, a collection of cover songs done by the insanely popular 90s indie band. Surely by now, you've heard Weezer's version of Toto's Africa. It's sounds eerily similar to the original, and if I didn't know better, I might actually be convinced that it's Toto. Another one of my faves from the 80s has been included: Tear for Fears' Everybody Wants To Rule The World. You can give it a listen on Spotify here.
Lately I've been watching some heavy stuff on Netflix (The Bodyguard, The Ted Bundy Tapes, and You). I was in desperate need of a distraction from the gory stuff, so I started watching Great News on a whim and I am so glad I did. This show is hilarious! It's produced by Tina Fey and focuses on an ambitious news producer whose mother joins the team as an intern. One of my faves, Nicole Richie (my style icon) also stars. If you are looking for something funny to watch, this show provides a healthy distraction from a bad day and the daily news.
Last week I upgraded my Fitbit Alta to a Versa smartwatch. In addition to more robust features, the Versa has much better sleeping analytics. After reviewing my sleep metrics, I realized that my sleep patterns leave little to be desired. I engage in deep sleep about 10% of the night (which came as no surprise as I know I am a light sleeper). It was really the total amount of time that I spend asleep that startled me. Most nights I'm getting between 5 and 6 total hours of sleep. In an effort to get a better and longer night's sleep, I've been taking steps to adjust my sleeping routine. This infographic has been a big help.
I'm not good at pulling ingredients out of my fridge or panty and whipping up a delicious dinner. I'm just not that creative in the kitchen. But on Saturday I was inspired when I didn't want to order takeout. I challenged myself to make something that the kids and I would enjoy and yet used ingredients we had on hand. This veggie stir fry came to the rescue! It was quick, easy, and a big hit with the girls.

If you are local to the Jersey shore, you don't want to miss the Spring Lake Theater Company's production of Legally Blonde (Feb. 15, 16, 22, and 23). Info and tickets here.
So, tell me. What do you have planned this weekend?
