25 Days of Christmas: Day 9 ~ Candles

Friday, December 9, 2011
Once there's a chill in the air, I light the candles. I love how candles add warmth and ambiance to any room, creating a cozy space.

I've found some really yummy candles this holiday season. So if you are looking for some good ones, try one of these. They'll create a warm glow in your home and infuse it with a fabulous scent.

The Spiced Egg Nog candle from Anthropologie will fill your kitchen with a delightful scent. $18

The Winter Berry candle from Williams-Sonoma will is filled with the scents of pomegranates, oranges, and cassis. $20

My all-time favorite candles are from Things That Make Scents, a local shop that sells hand poured, soy candles. They are safe for you, your family, your pet and for the environment. And the woman who owns the company is absolutely lovely. You can follow her on Twitter at @soylady. I buy most of my candles from her. Occasionally, such as the above candles, I buy outside of her store. But I would much prefer to support a local business. Online ordering is available, and you have the option of picking up in store or having it shipped to you.

The candle of the month is "Mistletoe", a perfectly fresh evergreen fragrance kissed by berries and a sprinkle of spice. All sizes and varieties of the scent will be sold at 25% off for the remainder of the month. Price is dependent upon size. For example, the 26 oz. candle of the month sells for $14.24.

Another holiday favorite of mine is "Christmas in Manasquan". The description according to the Web site states, "Vanilla intertwines with a spice cabinet of cinnamon, clove, allspice, kissed with sugar. Hints of nutmeg and fruits peak out from the heart notes." The 26 oz. jar sells for $18.99.
And, just in case you're looking for something other than a holiday scent, I HIGHLY recommend "Under The Boardwalk". It's divine. Just the smell of it will have you yearning for a Jersey summer day. But you cannot go wrong with any scent from Things That Make Scents. All of them are that good. Just sayin'.

Do you have a favorite holiday candle? If so, please share!
