Happy May ~ Letter From The Editor

Wednesday, May 1, 2019

Where did the month of April go? Can someone tell me? I blinked, and it was over. And now, here we are, sliding into the home stretch of the school year and gearing up for summer. This month, particularly this week, is a busy one. Emma's junior prom is Friday, and in typical Emma fashion, she's procrastinated and now we are scurrying to tie up loose ends. She's super excited for the prom and her 17th birthday on May 11th and her driving test a few days later.

We returned from San Diego a few days ago, and it was a whirlwind but wonderful trip. We covered a lot of ground, including a day trip to Santa Monica. We are already planning a girls' trip to return!

This month on the blog I'll be sharing a recap of our trip including where we stayed, where we ate, and what we did. I'll also be sharing the bathing suits I'd actually wear. If you dread bathing suit shopping as much as you dread wearing one, it's time to reframe that narrative and embrace bathing suit season. We'll also take a look at some spring/summer trends, including one I'm super excited about: tie-dye. I'll share a few ways to wear this trend without looking like a leftover from the 60s.

Stick around. There's lots of good stuff to come, but in the meantime, check out these popular stories from April.

Also, be sure to check out my weekly series Weekend Dispatch where I share some ideas for how to spend your weekend.

After a self-induced winter spending freeze, I was back in the shopping game come spring. Here's what I bought.

Utilitarian chic is one of the hottest trends this spring. scoop up one or all of these fab finds under $50 so you can sport the trend without going broke.

If you are brave enough to let it all hang out, try spring's hottest accessory: transparent bags.

Two mules almost exactly alike, but two very different price points. Will you splurge or save?

MAY MUST-HAVES

A classic wedge sandal is a summer must. This espadrille wedge sandal comes in three colors (also denim and tan) and can be worn with everything from dresses, skirts, shorts and jeans.

'Tis the season for layers, and one of my favorite ways to layer is with a classic denim jacket. Also available in a dark wash.

You know those wedges and denim jacket above? Pair them with this slant button romper for a casual night out or afternoon shopping excursion.

Finish off this entire look with a cut-out straw crossbody bag (under $20!).

Don't forget to follow along on Instagram.

And on Pinterest.

May your May be a good one!
