Labeling The Boxes
I've made this mistake too often. This might seem obvious that you just wouldn't forget, but when you're rushing, little things like labeling a box can easily be
forgotten. Although it may come across as something really small and an
easy mistake to make, the impact that it could have on your move at the
other end could be quite a big one especially when it comes to the movers asking where you want
each box to be put. Although labelling your boxes properly should be classed as one
of the most important tasks, it is one of the top things people
forget when moving. You should always label your boxes in permanent marker with the name of the room they are to be put in when unloading and it may
be a good idea to indicate it's contents such as marking any boxes
containing fragile items clearly so as to ensure the crew take extra care
when loading and unloading it from the truck. Be sure to mark anything that’s
important with ‘un-pack first’.
Packing The Essentials
When you move and where you're moving to will
mean that you might not have the time, let alone the energy, to start
unpacking properly when you get to your
new house, and the last thing you need is to be searching through all of your boxes
for your essentials and important items. Set aside all the important things that you may need for that
first night, including some cutlery and possibly a mug for your morning
coffee and pack them in a box that you transport in your car.It can be very easy to think that once you reach your new house it will be easy to access everything you need and that you'll have no problems, and actually, this might not be the case,
Inform People
Chances are you've got caught up in all the packing, moving and
unpacking again that you've already forgotten about telling the relevant
people that you're actually moving. This is probably one of the most common
things people forget when making a move. It's important that you
tell any old
suppliers, such as electric, gas, and water that you are moving and that you update
all your bill correspondence too this way you're keeping on top of things
and nothing will come back to haunt you. While you're doing this, it's
probably a good idea to let any family and friends know too! It's also
important to inform places such as your healthcare professional and license
holders.
