Weekend Dispatch

We couldn't have asked for a better Memorial Day weekend. The weather was gorgeous, and the beaches were packed. That's the way we like to kick off summer around here. I did venture to the Manasquan Beach on Sunday to buy beach badges, but I didn't stick around to hit the beach. Emma and Harper stayed and said it was "popping". I take it that's a good thing.

Here's what I'm up to this weekend:

The Elton John biopic Rocketman hits theaters today. This is the uncensored human story of Sir Elton John's breakthrough years. The movie is a musical fantasy that promises to astonish and delight. I can't wait to see it. I love Elton John's music, and Rocket Man is my all-time favorite song. I am all in on this one!

I'm all about easy cooking in the summers. That usually means more salads and more grilling. One of my favorite summer meals is this Cajun grilled shrimp salad. It's super easy to make and you can customize it to your liking by adding whatever veggies (or anything else) you want.

I love creating playlists on Spotify, but I also love listening to the pre-made playlists. My current favorite is Sunny Day, a collection of soft pop hits that will set you up for a pleasant day. Lately, whether I am driving, working, or getting ready to go out, this is the playlist I have streaming.

Outdoor patio and deck decorations can be expensive. Lighting is a big part of creating patio ambience, but lanterns run well over $100/piece. When I saw these tin can lanterns on Pinterest, I thought they were a brilliant and inexpensive way to bring light to your outdoor space without breaking the bank.
